The author attended a meeting of the NSG Dual-Use Group in May, which aimed to discuss and assess proposed items for inclusion in a regime for controlling dual-use exports. The Americans presented a list of items and sought feedback from the other delegations. The meeting provided a platform for technical discussions and revealed areas of agreement and disagreement. The author expects a summary record to be written and circulated, along with redrafts and proposed wordings. Overall, the meeting went well with less dissent than anticipated, and the importance of the task and the need for continued momentum were recognized. The next working group meeting is scheduled for June or July in Brussels.
