Description
The Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) was established in 1975 with seven members and has gradually expanded over the years. After a period of inactivity, the NSG was revitalized in 1991 with an informal meeting of subscribers to the NSG guidelines. Subsequent meetings were held in 1992 and 1993, with more countries participating and observers present. As of June 1993, the NSG consisted of 29 member countries, and applications for membership from Argentina and South Africa were under consideration. The Zangger Committee, which includes all NSG members plus South Africa, does not include Argentina as it is not a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
