Description
During a meeting on Middle East regional security, the US expressed its intention to place greater emphasis on non-proliferation. They proposed coordinating policy through the Group of Seven (G7) and initiating discussions on topics such as arms control procedures, sanctions, UN Security Council's role, and a multilateral fund for weapon destruction. The UK acknowledged the usefulness of the G7 and expressed interest, considering their obligations in the European Political Cooperation (EPC). If the American proposal proceeds, it would provide an opportunity to discuss the UK's paper on de facto nuclear states.
