The French authorities have denied authorization for the sale of 1,000 tonnes of uranium perchlorate to Pakistan. The substance falls under Category 3, Paragraph 3 of the equipment and technology annex of the missile technology control documents. Other states adhering to the non-proliferation regime have been informed of this decision. The document requests that the British authorities respond according to the mechanisms outlined in the documents adopted in 1987 if approached by Pakistan for a similar transfer of material.
