Description

During the Nuclear Suppliers' Group meeting held in Warsaw, the Government of Japan proposed assuming the tasks of the new regime. They expressed appreciation for the support received and emphasized the need for close cooperation between participating countries. Japan plans to locate the Secretariat's function within its Permanent Mission in Vienna and is preparing the necessary structure. They have requested other governments to assign an official from their missions in Vienna as contact persons for information and communication. Japan also intends to hold a working group meeting in the near future to discuss the Terms of Reference for the Point-of-Contact. The scheduling arrangements for this meeting will be drafted soon, and the possibility of holding the first high-level, annual meeting will be discussed within the working group.
